Alice R. Miller, 79, of Newton, died Saturday (Jan. 2, 2010) at the Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Joseph Campus in Wichita, Ks.
She was born on May 31, 1930 in Newton, the daughter of Jesse and Alice Friday Sills. A life long resident of Newton, Alice attended Newton schools. After high school she worked at the Santa Fe Laundry.
Alice married Bobby Ray Miller on June 15, 1948 in Newton. He died on October 25, 1981. She had been a waitress at Leonida’s. Alice retired in 1995 from working in the bakery at the North Dillons Store in Newton.
Survivors include two sons Gerald Miller of Newton and Gary Miller and wife Patty of Walton; three daughters Evelyn Maier and husband Robert and Carol Unruh and husband Jerridan both of Newton and Judy Halula and husband Andrew of Parker, Colorado; one brother John Sills of Newton; seven grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday (Jan. 7, 2010) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 1:00 P.M. til 8:00pm where the family will receive friends after 6:30 P.M.
