Alice Wagner, 94, died on January 12, 2014.
Alice was born on August 31, 1919, in Walton, Kansas to Harvey and Elsie (Worthington) Wright.
She married John Wayne Wagner on May 18, 1940, in Marion, Kansas.
They lived all of their married life in rural Walton. Alice was an elementary school teacher for 40 years at several country schools and in the Newton School District.
Wayne died on April 4, 1979.
She is predeceased by brothers, Harold, Bill and Don Wright; brother-in-law, Earl Wagner and foster son-in-law, Marlin Hiebert.
She is survived by brother, J.D. (Irene) Wright and sister, Virginia (Roy) Pientka, both of Hesston, KS, sisters-in-law Ruth Wagner of El Dorado, KS, and Jinx Wright of Taos, NM, three foster daughters, Barbara (Edward) Reimer, Elaine (Richard) Kasitz and Janice Hiebert, all of Newton, KS, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Alice’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014, at the Walton United Methodist Church, Walton, KS.
Visitation with the family will be held from 1-8 p.m. with the family greeting guests from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
