Allen E. Gaeddert, 75, died Monday (June 21, 2021) at his home in North Newton, Ks.
He was born on November 6, 1945 in Goessel, Kansas, the son of Walter and Harriett Knowles Gaeddert. Allen was raised in the Moundridge area, graduating from Moundridge High School. Shortly after which he moved to Newton and went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad.
He married Donna Jean Lankton on May 28, 1966 in Newton. Shortly after which he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served during the Viet Nam Conflict. Upon being discharged he returned to Newton and continued to work for the Santa Fe Railroad until retiring in 2001.
His wife, Donna, died on September 10, 2000. Allen later married Margret Loewen Graber on September 17, 2010 in North Newton. They lived in Newton until moving to North Newton in 2019.
Through the years Allen had been a member of the V.F.W., was an avid golfer and enjoyed his dogs.
Survivors include his wife Margret of the home in North Newton; son Jeff Gaeddert and his wife Elaine of Valley Center; daughter Sheryl Area and her husband Jay of North Newton; brother Jim Gaeddert and wife Leda of Kansas City, Ks.; five grandchildren Cory Area, Amy Hulse and husband Josh, Alicia Gaeddert, Grant Gaeddert and wife Chloe, and Gabe Gaeddert; and six great grandchildren Rylee Hulse, James Hulse, Abby Hulse, Tristen Area, Treyten Area, and Tinley Area.
Allen is also survived by Margret’s children Carolyn Saxl and her husband Christopher of Napa, Calif., and Christopher Graber of Ponca City, Okla.; and grandchildren Charleston Saxl, Macie Saxl, and Kai Graber.
Allen is preceded in death his parents; wife Donna; and brother Dick Gaeddert.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday (June 25, 2021) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
The casket will be open at the funeral home on Thursday between 1:00 P.M. and 8:30 P.M., where the family will receive friends between 7:00 and 8:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with Caring Hands Humane Society, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
