Barbara (Barb) Ann Repshire, 56, Newton, KS passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Newton Medical Center.
Barbara was born March 17, 1952 in Omaha, NE, the daughter of Arnold F. and Bernice E. (Lowe) Huigens. She graduated from Berean Academy and later from Hesston College with a Nursing Degree. Barbara had worked for numerous nursing homes, medical clinics in the area and with hospice.
She accepted the Lord as her Savior at the age of 5. She enjoyed reading her Bible and memorizing scripture. While attending Newton Bible Church, she worked many hours on the Christmas program which she wrote and directed. Barbara was recently an active member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was attending the Wednesday night RCI Classes.
Barbara was very talented, patient, and a detail oriented person, often being referred to as an “organized packrat.” She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and even sewing wedding dresses. She especially loved her family and grandchildren.
She married Ray Repshire on November 1, 1992 in Newton, KS, he survives of the home. Additional survivors include her children Christopher Crawford, stationed in Iraq and his wife Rochelle of Theresa, NY; Amy Crawford of Newton, KS; Timothy Crawford of Boulder, CO; and David Crawford of Newton, KS. Step children, David Frost of Emporia; Cody Repshire and his fiancé Samantha of Sedgwick, KS; and Tandi Johnson and her husband Michael of Ft. Worth, TX. Grandchildren, Jacob, Joseph, Michaela and Landon. A sister, Carolyn Savage and her husband Rex of Florence, KS; and brother, Roger Huigens and his wife Valerie of Minneapolis, MN.
She was preceded in death by her father Arnold Huigens.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at St. Mary’s Church with a rosary said at 10:00 AM with Reverend Jim Mainzer, celebrant. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-9:00 PM. The family will greet friends from 4:30-6:30 PM Monday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
