Betty Lee Farrow, 93, died Thursday (February 2, 2017) at the Asbury Park in Newton, Ks.
She was born on February 22, 1923 in Severy, Ks., the daughter of Henry Marshall and Florida Weatherford Sexton. Betty was raised in the Severy area and moved to Oklahoma as a teenager.
Betty met Arthur Willard Farrow as he was selling religious items door to door, an instance romance occurred and they were married three days later on June 20, 1944 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Together they worked in the cottonfields throughout Oklahoma. For several years they lived in the Binger, Oklahoma area. Arthur died on February 22, 1976.
Betty moved to Newton in the Fall of 1979. She became a cook at the Presbyterian Manor and was involved in the Grandparents Program in the Newton School District. Betty enjoyed making pies for family and special events, especially her sour cream bread.
Survivors include four generations of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Along with her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by her brothers Isaac, Virgil, Clifford and Ronald Sexton; and sisters Hazel Williams and Phyllis Lewis.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday (February 6, 2017) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. The family will greet friends prior to the service at 1:30pm.
The casket will be open after 9:00 A.M. on Monday at the funeral home.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday (February 7, 2017) at the Murray Cemetery in Binger, Oklahoma.
A memorial has been established with the Youth Department of Immanuel Baptist Church in Newton, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
