Betty L. Steinkirchner

Betty Lucile Steinkirchner died July 26, 2009. She was born January 19th, 1926 in Newton, Kansas, to Emmett E. Smith and Flossie L. (Pletcher) Smith. She married Leo Frank (Pete) Steinkirchner, Jr. on September 20, 1952. He passed away on August 27, 1986.

Over the years Betty worked as a dental assistant for Dr. R. C. Nichol, a telephone operator for South Western Bell, and she retired as a Food Service Employee for Newton School District, U.S.D.# 373. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society, Charter member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is remembered by her family as a faithful wife, loving mother and grandmother.

Betty is survived by four children, Patricia King and husband Kevin, Hot Springs, AR, Gary Steinkirchner and wife Daphynne, Amarillo, TX, Mary Steinkirchner, Newton and Susan Kile and huband Kenny, Shannon City, IA; four grandchildren, Lindsey, Kody and Dusty Kile, and Brandon Steinkirchner; one brother, Norris E. Smith of Akron, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, two brothers, Jack E. and Robert L. Smith and an infant son, David L. Steinkirchner.

Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M.

A private family inurnment will be held.

Friends may sign the book at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

In Lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to Hospice Care of Kansas or Newton Medical Center- Healthcare Foundation, in care of the funeral home, 120 E Broadway, Newton, KS 67114
