ROBERT LEE “BOB” FRANTZ, 66, of Newton, died Wednesday (July 23, 2014) at his home.
He was born on January 29, 1948 in McPherson, Kansas the son of Cornelius B. and Dena Boehs Frantz. Bob was raised on a dairy farm in the Tampa/Durham area, he attended the Central Heights Grade School and graduated from Durham High School.
Bob served in the One W Service in Denver, after being released he returned to the family farm to work with his parents. He married Janet Fletcher on April 26, 1969 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. They moved to McPherson in the 70’s and to Newton in 2007.
After leaving the farm, Bob did home remodeling for a few years and worked at the Jantz Lumber Yard. He was a member of the First Mennonite Church in McPherson.
Survivors include his wife Janet of the home in Newton; sons Jason Roy Frantz of Dallas and Matthew O’Neal Frantz and wife Allison of McPherson; daughter Emily Renee Frantz of Galva, Ks.; brothers Richard Frantz and Rita of Blackhawk, S.D. and Norman Frantz and wife Debra of Mulvane, Ks.; three grandchildren Kayley, Landon and Devin Frantz of McPherson; two foster sons Shawn Krell of Loveland, Colo., and Erik Weber of McPherson; nieces Sarah Surkraw and Teresa Frantz of Blackhawk, S.D.; great nieces and nephews Dena Marie Frantz, Corbin and Orion Sukraw, Paige Tilley and Chris Tilley.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and niece Kelly Tilley.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Saturday (July 26, 2014) the First Mennonite Church in McPherson.
There will be no visitation as cremation has been effected.
A memorial has been established with the McPherson First Mennonite Church and the Harvey County Homeless Shelter, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 East Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114
