Candelario Chavez, 70, of Newton, died Tuesday (August 17, 2010) at the Select Specialty Hospital of Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in
Wichita, Ks.
He was born on February 2, 1940 in Durango, Mexico. He moved to Wichita, Ks. in the late 1970’s and to Newton in 1981. He had worked for Future Foam in Newton for over
25 years before retiring in March, 2005.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Amada (Valdiviezo) Chavez of the home in Newton; four sons Jose Angel Chavez of Santa Rosalia de Camargo, Mexico, Apolinar Chavez of Newton, Evaristo Chavez of Wichita and Jose Alfredo Chavez of Santa Rosalia de Camargo, Mexico; three daughters Cruz Chavez of Newton, Celia Chavez and Juana Chavez both of Santa Rosalia de Camargo, Mexico; one brother Fidel Chavez of Camargo, Mexico; one sister Andrea Chavez of Sinaloa, Mexico; 20 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
Candelario is preceded in death by his parents; three sons Arturo Chavez, Salvador Chavez and Ambrosio Chavez; and one sister Maria Chavez.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, (Aug. 19, 2010) and the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday (Aug. 20, 2010) both at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton. Interment will be in St. Mary’ Cemetery in Newton.
The visitation and viewing will be held all day Thursday also at the church.
Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton
