NEWTON:
Carl E. McCurdy, 70, died Wednesday (December 14, 2016) at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice of Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus.
He was born on June 26, 1946 in Wichita, Ks., the son of Roy Leonal and Margaret Viola (Winters) McCurdy. He was raised in the Halstead area, after high school Carl served in the U.S. Army.
Carl married Catherine Elaine Higgins on January 8, 1970 in Hutchinson, Ks. He had worked for several roofing company through the years.
Survivors include his wife Catherine of the home; sons Shane McCurdy of Wichita and Carl Ray Dietzman of Spokane, Washington; daughters Marci Tallman, Kristi Swickard and Kelli Baer all of Newton; brothers Tony and Vernon McCurdy both of Newton; half-brother Sam Archer of Mt. Home, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents; brother George; sister Anna Bell Morris; and half-siser Ruby Couch.
Graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday (December 19, 2016) at the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday where the family will receive friends between 5pm and 9pm.
