Carol J. Munger, 70, died Sunday (January 25, 2015) at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Unit of Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
She was born on October 16, 1944 in Oketo, Ks., the daughter of Francis and Catherine Latus Brockman. The family moved to Oakland, Iowa where she graduated from high school in 1962. Carol married William J. Munger, Sr., on June 12, 1964 in Sioux City, Iowa.
Shortly after being married they moved to Northeast Kansas. Carol had been a waitress for several years, she also owned and operated Carol’s Place in Beattie, Kansas for eight years. In 1969, the Munger’s started their own trucking business in Beattie, the business was relocated to Newton in 1985. The Munger’s moved to Newton in 1992.
Mr. Munger died on April 28, 1997, Carol continued to live in Newton until moving to Wichita last year.
Survivors include her children, James Munger of Topeka, Billy Munger of Lenexa, Ks., Mark Munger of Newton, and Crystal Schaus of Wichita; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers Lorenz Brockman of Newton and Fred Brockman of Masedonia, Iowa; and three sisters, Marie Griffee of Beattie, Ks., Betty Wolfgang of Hancock, Iowa, Theresa Burrington of Emerson, Iowa.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Francis, Leo, and “Abe” Brockman; grandson Samuel Isaac Munger; and step-children Ronald W. Munger and Charlotte Josoff.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday 1pm til 9pm, where the family will receive friends between 6:30 and 8:30.+
