Reverend Carolyn Sue Schwarz, 60, died on December 1, 2016 at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
She was born on November 27, 1956 in Newton, Kansas the daughter of Imogene M. (Sloan) and James F. Bueker.

Carolyn married Kenneth Schwarz on June 18, 1988 in Newton, Kansas. He survives of the home.

Carolyn graduated Newton Public High School in 1974. She furthered her education with a Bachelor of Art from Wichita State University; Master of Divinity at Philips Theological Seminary of Enid, OK and was currently working on her Doctorate Degree from Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, KY.

Carolyn was a member of the Wichita Kiwanis club, past president of the AAUW chapter in Newton and very active in the church camping programs both in Virginia and in Kansas. She was also a founding member of the Clergy Supporting LGBT Equality in Wichita, Kansas. Carolyn was very proud of her endeavors, loved her family dearly, and had many close friends.

Following her faith, and leaving some big footprints on many people’s lives, Carolyn was ordained at the First Christian Church in 1997. She began her career in ministry as the Christian Education Director for the Park Place Christian Church. Next, she shared her love for God with others, working as the Chaplain for the Kansas Christian Home in Newton. After relocation to Virginia, Carolyn served as a Senior Pastor of the Seventh Street Christian Church in Richmond, VA; She served as Regional Moderator of the Christian Church in in Virginia. When she moved back to Kansas, Carolyn was called to be the Senior Pastor of Pine Valley Christian Church in Wichita, until her recent retirement.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Terry Bueker; her maternal grandparents, Delmer and Elsie Sloan; paternal grandparents William E. (Ethel) Bueker, Irene (Harry) Tryon.

Survivors include her loving husband Kenneth Schwarz; son and husband, Rev. Dustin and Nathan Parsons-Schwarz, Springfield, VA; daughter and husband, Marlene and John Plumley, and grandchildren Andrew and Daniel Jones, Edgewater, Maryland; sister, Jan Bueker, Wichita, KS; and aunts Pat Osburn and Lois Bueker.

Memorial Services will be held at the First Christian Church in Newton, on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 1:30 P.M. There will be visitation with the family 30 minutes prior to service time.

Burial will be held at Restlawn Garden of Memories, Newton, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to the Pine Valley Christian Church, First Christian Church or Camp Tawakoni in care of the funeral home at 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
