Charles F. “Charlie” Sadowsky, 67, died August 19, 2014, at his home in Newton, Kansas.
He was born on June 22, 1947, in Newton, Kansas to Sydney (Gwinn) and John Sadowsky.
He graduated from Newton High School and enlisted in the Army in September, 1968. While stationed at Ft. Myer, VA he was active with the Honor Guard. Charlie volunteered for Combat Duty in South Vietnam where he served for one year. When he returned from the service, he was stationed at Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs, CO until his discharge in 1968. While enlisted he earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
During his younger years, he loved to go pheasant hunting in South Dakota. He spent a lot of time at his cabin in Colorado, fishing and enjoying the outdoors.
Charlie had a kind heart and was always helping anyone in need. His enjoyments in life were his daughter and grandchildren.
He was married to Peggy Schilling from 1969-1987 then later married Carolyn Neal in 2007, both survive.
Preceding him in death were his parents, sister, Rose Marie, son, Christopher George and son-in-law, Michael Childs Jr.
Survivers include, a daughter, Amber Sadowsky Childs, Newton; 3 grandchildren, Brittany Jaso, Brody and Briley Scott, all of Newton; great grandchild, Byntlee Jaso, Newton;3 brothers, Bruce (Loretta) Sadowsky, Derby, Martin Sadowsky, Newton and Bob (Terri) Sadowsky, Newton; sister, Mary Sue (Mel) Voth, North Newton; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home on Sunday, August 24th, from 1:00 -5:00 PM, with the family greeting from 3:00 P.M.-5:00P.M, and also Monday, August 25, 2014 from 1:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. with no family greeting.
