David Allen Kurr, age 54, of Wichita, passed away suddenly on the 21st of December 2018.
David was born on December 7, 1964 in Newton, KS, the son of Leslie and Ruby Kurr. He graduated from Newton High School in 1983 and married the love of his life and soul-mate Stacy Goette on April 20, 2008.
David will be missed for many reasons. Most notable, his amazing humor and love for fun. He was kind and generous, ready to care for friends in need. David was an amazing machinist, able to transform metal into premier engine parts or a work of art. For many years the “Kurr engine” has been known as the elite racing motor.
Survivors include his wife Stacy Kurr of Wichita; the daughter he raised Ashley Nichole Gonzales; siblings Gary Kurr and wife Cindy of Newton, Joni Isaac and husband Mark of Ft. Worth, Texas, Lori Knowles and husband Joe of Maryland, Kathy Rhodes and husband Jeffrey of Madison, MS, James Kurr of Overland Park, KS; and, numerous nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Ruby Kurr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday (December 26, 2018) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
The casket will be open at the funeral home Monday 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. and prior to the service on Wednesday.
A memorial has been established with St. Jude’s Children Hospital. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
