David R. Baumann, 68, of Newton, Kansas died on October 3, 2016 at the Newton Medical Center, Newton, Kansas.
He was born September 3, 1948, in Newton, Kansas to Frances E. (Warr) and John F. Baumann.
David enjoyed hunting and fishing, along with spending time with his family.
He enlisted into the United State Navy on March 22, 1968 in Wichita, and separated on September 29,1969 in Birmington, Washington.
Upon his return to the Newton community, David was employed for the Wichita School District # 259 as a Supervisor for the garage department. He retired in November 2007, after 27 years of service.
David was a member of the local V.F.W. # 971 and the American Legion Post #2 both of Newton.
Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Chris and Herman Baumann.
Survivors include his son, John Baumann and grandson, Christopher Baumann, Newton, KS; daughter Amanda and Tracy Winter, Ocean City, Maryland, and grandchildren Zoe, Sydney and Bodhi; brother Bradley and wife Laura Baumann, Newton; four nieces and one nephew.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016, at 5:00 P.M. at the American Legion Post #2, Newton, Kansas.
There will be no burial at this time, cremation has been effected.
