Debbie S. Dansby, died December 23, 2010 at Harry Hynes Hospice, St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on September 16, 1957 in Chanute, Kansas to Ervestine Myra S. Curls and Lawrence Elgin Curls.

After Debbie graduated high school, she attended Wichita State University for several years. During her lifetime she was a food service provider in several fast food chains.

Debbie was a member of the 2nd Baptist Church of Newton. She served on the Southwest District Association, National and State Baptist Convention Boards. Debbie was also a member of the Cherokee Delware, and her clan was the original Wolf clan.

She was also widely known in the community for her musical talents. Debbie sang at many weddings, receptions, and community events.

She is survived by Fiance’ David Coleman, Newton, a daughter, Alisha Dansby (William Conwell), Wellington, KS, 2 sons, Cornelius Dansby Jr., Newton, KS and Alan Dansby (Tisha), Newton, KS;stepson,David Wayne Dansby Jr. (and wife Jo)and stepdaughter, Tara Coleman, Manhatten, KS,3 brothers, Lawrence Curls Jr., Chanute, Kirk Curls, Las Vegas, NV, Reuban Curls, Ft. Scott, KS; 6 sisters, Bernadette Keeling, Cheryl Walker, Elaine Turner all of California, Barbara Smith and Gloria Curls, Chanute and Terrace Martin, Tulsa, OK; 8 grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was a daughter, Shyla Dansby, a sister, Dorothy Curls Fletcher and father and mother, Lawrence and Ervestine Curls.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2010, from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.

Memorial Service will follow at the 2nd Baptist Church in Newton, at 2:00 P.M. The officiator of ceremonies will be Pastor Darrell Fox.

The burial will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Chanute at 11:00 A.M.

Memorials may be sent to the Hilliard Memorial Fund or the American Diabetes Foundation, in care of the funeral home. There will also be a donation fund in memory
of Debbie Dansby in care of the funeral home.
