Diana K. Desmond, 71, entered the arms of her Lord on Friday (December 11, 2020) at the Newton Medical Center.
She was born on February 5, 1949 in Halstead, Kansas. She was the youngest daughter of Marvin and Bertha Gehring Schrag. Diana grew up in the Moundridge area and attended schools there.
Diana was a member of the Meridian Baptist Church and had worked at the Axtell Hospital.
She was a creative person who used her talents to make tray favors for the area hospitals and nursing home for over 42 years.
Diana was united in marriage to John L. Desmond on June 20, 1970 at the Zion Mennonite Church in Moundridge, Kansas. He died on May 1, 2005.
Survivors include two brothers Dale Schrag and his wife Carol of Newton, Donnie Schrag and his wife Shirley of Halstead, Ks.; sister Delila Wedel and husband Lester of rural Newton; brother-in-law Keith Ford of Ft. Ogelthorpe, Ga.; along with nieces Rachel Nicholson, Theresa Fluck, Cheryl Plumley and Jean Cumbie; and nephews Lynn Wedel, Lyle Wedel, Doug Regier, and Jeff Schrag.
Diana is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters Jane Ford and Judy Regier; brother-in-law Louis Regier; and nephew Lavern Wedel
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Thursday (December 17, 2020) at the Meridian Baptist Church. Those attending are asked to follow proper Covid restrictions.
Private family interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
There will be no visitation or viewing.
A memorial has been established with Awana, the Union Rescue Mission and Child Evangelism Fellowship. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
