Dona’ Fleur Wells, 79, of Newton, died Monday (June 29, 2015) at the Select Specialty Hospital of Via Christi Medical Center in Wichita, Ks.
She was born on May 20, 1936 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Hannibal and Connie Leola Anderson White.
A longtime resident of Newton. Dona’ graduated from Newton High School on May 27, 1954.
She was a member of Halls Chapel A.M.E. Church for many years.
Dona’ had worked at the Newton Presbyterian Manor. She later went to work at the Meadowlark Homestead, which would later become Prairie View of Newton. After 45 years of service, she retired on December 31, 2012. Through the years Dona’ had been a Mental Health technician, case manager, activity coordinator, and community service worker.
Survivors include her daughter Gretchen Wells of Newton; brother and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Earl White of Valley Center; grandchildren Jessica Brown of Wichita, Jessica Manney of McAllen, Tx., and Johnathan Manney of Lawrence, Ks.; nieces Valerie McCutcheon of Newton, Amy Watts of Dallas, Tx., and Jamie Riccardo of Kissimee, Florida.
Dona’ is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Donald White and Hanns Conle White.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday (July 11, 2015) at the Kingdom Harvest, 11801 East Lincoln, in Wichita. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
There will be no visitation or viewing as cremation has been effected.
Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
