Donald Edward “Bud” Fischer, 87, of Newton, passed away on Monday (Oct. 14, 2013) at the Newton Presbyterian Manor.
He was born December 29, 1925 in Boone County, Nebraska, the son of William “Farmer” and Marie Meyer Fischer. After graduating from high school, Bud farmed until his was 18 years old, then he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force. After being discharged from the military, Bud worked for the O’Neil Photography in Nebraska. He later worked as a photographer in Albion and York, Nebraska.
Bud married Phyllis M. Rochford on January 29, 1947 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In 1951, he went to work for Beech Aircraft where he worked in avionics until retiring January 1, 1988.
After retiring, Bud and Phyllis moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas where they lived until 1999 when they moved to Newton.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis of Newton; sons William H. Fischer of the Bahamas, and Richard E. Fischer of Newton; daughter Barbara Jo Derringer of Bella Vista, Ark.; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and two brothers: Grant, Erna, Esther, Elsie, Iona , a brother in infancy; and one great grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday (October 19, 2013) at the Newton Presbyterian Manor Chapel. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at White Chapel Cemetery in Wichita.
There will be no visitation as cremation has been effected.
