Donald C. Stone, 85, of North Newton, died Saturday (September 30, 2017) at the Newton Medical Center.
He was born on April 21, 1932 in Ft. Erie, Ontario, Canada, the son of Newman and Irene Beeson Stone. Donald moved to Hutchinson, Ks. when he was four years old, graduating from Hutchinson High School in 1950. He then spent two years at the North Dakota State School of Science.
He married Marlys Mae Polfuss on September 6, 1951 in Hutchinson. They moved to Lyons, Ks. where he worked at Hoss Manufacturing, then moving to Wichita and Hutchinson for a short time until moving to Newton in 1957.
Donald worked at Bradbury Manufacturing in Moundridge for 13 years and later at the Newton Medical Center until retiring in 1996.
Donald and Marlys had been members of Peace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time in Colorado, taking the train rides there along with fishing, and loving dogs. Donald thoroughly enjoyed attending Hydro Boat Races.
Survivors include his wife Marlys of the home; two sons Russell Stone of Newton and Lowell Stone of Walton; daughter Debra Caliendo and husband Scott of Newton; brother Ronald Beeson Stone of Hutchinson; his grandchildren that he enjoyed spending time with, Jason Stone, Nicole Stone, Amanda Cowley, Kayla Hiebert, Jessica Williams, and Cody Stone; and great grandchildren, Mackenzie Redger, Emma Hiebert, Finnleigh Stone, Maci Williams, Kaleb Stone, and RaeLynn Cowley.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday (October 4, 2017) at the Restlawn Gardens of Memory outside of Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., where the family will receive friends between 6:00 P.M. and 7:30 P.M.
