Dorothy Jean (King) Norris Staley passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Asbury Park in Newton, Kansas.

She was born on August 21, 1923 at home in Stevens County, KS to Purdie and Bernice(Swafford) King.

On April 11, 1939, she married Kreston Norris. He died in September 1970. To their union six children were born. On June, 1972, she married Fay Staley. He died in August, 1989. She welcomed his five children into the family.

Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newton, Kansas. She also belonged to the U.M.W. and the Rachel Circle. She held a membership with the 23er pen pal club in which over the years she had been quite active.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brother, Charles King; sister, Fern (King) Gromer; son, Gary Norris; step-son Kenneth Staley and a step-daughter, LaVonne (Staley) Johnson; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Dorothy is survived by a brother, Leland King, Lenexa, KS; five children, William (Dolores) Norris, Punta Gorda, FL, Patricia Hendrix, Springdale, AR, Kreston (Judy) Norris, Paola, KS; Shirley (John) Bethel, Abilene, TX, Martin (Marilyn) Norris, Newton; three step children, Kent (Beverly) Staley, Glendale, AZ, Donna Domenico, Lowell, AR, Lynda Staley, Springdale, AR; 19 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 9 great- great grandchildren.

She also left behind several years worth of homemade Christmas ornaments and numerous other special handmade crafts.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 19th, 2014, 9:00 a.m. until service time.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00p.m. on Wednesday, November, 19th, at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.

Burial will be held on Thursday, November 20th , at 2:00 p.m. at the Bluffs Cemetery in Springdale, Arkansas.
In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to Good Shepard Hospice or Women’s Rachel Circle, of 1st United Methodist Church.
