Elda Siemens Jantz

Elda Koehn Siemens Jantz, 94, died Thursday (February 25, 2016) at the Newton Presbyterian Manor.

She was born October 14, 1921 in Halstead to Fred and Susie (Jantz) Koehn.

Elda married Wilbur Siemens on November 11, 1939. They lived on a farm East of Walton where they started farrowing pigs for a retirement occupation. Wilbur died August 11, 1975, after which folks still continued to contact Elda for her quality pigs.

On April 26, 1981 she married Kerwin Jantz, they moved to Newton. Kerwin died January 5, 2007.

Some of her interests were gardening and quilting, making a quilt for each Grandchild and she was sought for her quality small stich work by many.

Elda is preceded in death by Parents, brothers Roy Koehn, Don Koehn, sisters Elvina Ediger, Laura Becker, Lydia Decker, Erma Unruh and Son, Harvey Siemens.

Survivors include sons Robert (Karen) Siemens of Sedgwick, Dennis (Martha) Siemens of Newton, daughter Carol(Jerry) Hiebert of Newton and daughter-in-law Bonnie Siemens of Bel Aire, 12 Grandchildren ,28 Great Grandchildren and twins to be born in a few months, twin Great-Great Granddaughters; neices and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday (February 29, 2016) at 2:00 P.M. at First Mennonite Church in Newton. Interment will be in the Walton Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday between 1:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M., where the family will receive friends between 2:00 and 4:00.

A memorial has been established with Good Shepherd Hospice and Mennonite Central Committee, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
