Eugene "Gene" W. Schmidt

Eugene “Gene” W. Schmidt, 64, died October 1, 2009 at his home in Newton.
He was born on September 19, 1945 in Goessel, Kansas the son of Velma (Friesen) and Willard Schmidt. They reside in Newton, Kansas.
On April 20th, 1968 he married Bonne R. Mosiman at the Faith Mennonite Church, Newton, Kansas. She survives of the home.
He was a member of the First Church of God, Newton, Kansas.
Other survivors include a brother Larry (Renee) Schmidt, Newton, and a sister Janice (Shawn) Kessler, Newton, Kansas; 3 grandchildren, Felica, Brandon and Danny; Son-in-law Jimmy Smith, Newton, Kansas.
Preceding him in death were two daughters, Elisa Sue Schmidt and April Dawn Smith; two sisters, Darlene Griffin and Donna Sue Schmidt.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October, 6th, from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with the family greeting from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th, at 10:00 A.M. at the First Church of God. Pastor Brian Curran will be presiding.
Memorials may be made to Victory in the Valley or to the Eugene W. Schmidt Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
A private family burial will take place at a later date.
