Eugene R. Quint, 97, of Newton, died Monday (Nov. 1, 2010) at Asbury Park in Newton.
He was born on May 6, 1913 in Victoria, Ks., the son of John P.A. and Catherine Windholz Quint. He graduated from high school in Victoria. On November 6, 1939, Eugene married Mary Katherine Schmidt in Victoria.
The Quint’s moved from Russell, Ks. to Newton in the Fall of 1949. He was a former meat cutter for Safeway . Eugene was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife Mary of Newton; one son Eugene Quint of Newton; one daughter Rita Quint of Wichita; two grandsons Mike and John Quint; two sisters Viola Kuhn of Russell and Norma Jean Fellers of Hays, Ks.
Eugene is preceded in death by his parents; one brother Virgil Quint; and four sisters Rena Brungardt, Mary Ellen Leiker, Elaine Sanders and Enda Goetz.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 6:30 P.M., Wednesday (Nov. 3, 2010).
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday (Nov. 4, 2010) both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
