Geesje Goodwin died on September 23rd, at 1:40 p.m. after a long illness.
She was born on February 23, 1949 to Hendrick (Henry) and Antje (Annie) Bouma Pyl in Grouw, Friesland, Netherlands.
Annie preceded her in death in July 2002.
The family immigrated to Newton in January 1960. She married Terryl (Terry) Jack Goodwin on October 7, 1966. He preceded her in death in August 2000. Geesje was very proud of becoming a United States Citizen on September 18, 1978.
Geesje is survived by her father, Henry Pyl of Hesston, Sons, Terry Dean Goodwin (Heather) from Twin Lakes, Wisconsin; Jeffrey Brian Goodwin and Valerie Romero; Brother Jelke Pyl (Cindy) of Newton; sister Alie Gadd of Newton; four grandchildren and five nieces and nephews
Geesje had many, many hobbies. She adored flower gardening, with many a stranger often stopping to praise her handiwork. She loved bingo, crafted beautiful works of painted glass and couldn’t get enough play time with her Face Book friends and online gaming. In her later years, she became a very avid reader with a book always in hand. Those who knew her best knew that she could never get enough of the warmth of the sun upon her face.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hesston United Methodist Church, Hesston.
Memorials are suggested to Asera Hospice Care of El Dorado in care of the funeral home, 120 E Broadway, Newton, KS 67114
Private inurnment will be held.
