Glen Henry Yakle Sr. 98, passed away June, 22, 2008 at Kansas Christian Home in Newton, Kansas. Glen Henry Yakle was born in White City, Kansas the son of Henry and Ida May (Height) Yakle on December 21, 1909. He worked as a farm hand most of his life in and around White City, Wilsey, and Peabody. In later years he worked the grain elevators in Newton. He was referred to as “the Cowboy” in and around the nursing home.
He married Thelma Marie Gutsch on February 4, 1934 on the home place in rural Lincolnville, Kansas. She passed away May 14, 1979. Together they were blessed with five children Lina Pauline, Glen Henry Jr., Ida May, Richard Leon, and Marie Elaine.
Survivors include his children Lina Johnson of Gunther, Texas, Richard Yakle of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Marie Fryhover of Newton, Kansas 12 loving grandchildren, many great grand children, and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Thelma, and children Glen Henry Jr., and Ida Mae.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24, 2008, from 1:00 P.M. till 9:00 P.M. with the family present to great friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Memorial services will be conducted at Kansas Christian Home, 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 25, 2008, with the Chaplain Denny Bell officiating. The committal service will be at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Wilsey Cemetery, Wilsey , Kansas. He will be laid to rest next to his parents and grandparents.
Memorials may be made to the Victory In The Valley Cancer Society in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
