Hilda A. Regier

Hilda A. Regier, 96, of Newton, died on Saturday (April 3, 2010) at the Presbyterian Manor in Newton.

She was born on December 31, 1913 in Whitewater, Ks., the daughter of Herman and Anna Epp Wiebe. She attended Tabor Accademy. Hilda married Gustav H. Regier on September 3, 1942 at the Emmaus Mennonite Church near Whitewater, Ks. He died in August 25, 1978.

Hilda worked in Newton at Web & Edna’s Kitchen and later at Len & Flo’s Kitchen. She was a long time member of First Mennonite Church, was a volunteer for Source of Light Kansas. Hilda enjoyed making quilts and had recorded over 200 quilts in addition to those made for family members.

Survivors include her five sons Maurice Regier and his wife Helga of North Newton, Delbert Regier and his wife Viola of Rock Hill, N.C., John Regier and his wife Barbara Colorado Springs, Colo., Kenneth Regier and his wife Nancy of Newton and Lynford Regier and his wife Sharon of Quito, Ecquador; three brothers Waldermar Wiebe and Richard Wiebe both of Whitewater and Willie Wiebe of Elbing, Ks.; two sisters Emilie Busenitz of Newton and Gladys Wiebe of Elbing; 19 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Ruby Regier of Corn, Okla.

Hilda is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers Alfred Wiebe, Edward Wiebe, one sister Esther Busenitz; one great grandson Brett Slife.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 9:45 A.M., Saturday (April 10, 2010) at the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday (April 10, 2010) at First Mennonite Church in Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday 1pm til 9pm, where the family will receive friends 6pm til 8pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be given to CrossWorld Berean Bible Institute of Quito, Ecquador or the Caring For The Heart Ministries, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
