Inez M. “Tommie” Miller, 84, of Newton, passed away on Wednesday (March 24, 2010) at the Newton Medical Center after a short illness.
She was born on August 31, 1925 in the Kansas City area, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. B.J. Thomas. She moved to Newton as a child. She married Gilbert “Gib” Miller on August 10, 1947 in Newton and they raised three children: Gary, Debora, and Barbara.
Inez was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. She retired from Safeway Grocery after working for 28 years. Inez was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed family togetherness while camping and boating. Inez also enjoyed playing cards, games, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and other crafts.
Inez leaves her family to mourn her passing: one son Gary Miller and his wife Penny of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters Debora Will and her husband Bill of Newton and Barbara Ewert and her husband Joel of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren Alisande and Bill Ratliff of Spring Hills, Ks., Nicholas Miller of Las Vegas, Nev., Ashley and Jason Smith of Newton, Jarrod Will and Amanda Davison of Newton, Jordan Ewert and Haylee Ewert of Charlotte, N.C.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Gilbert on April 1, 1997.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday (March 27, 2010) at the Salem United Methodist Church in Newton. Interment will be in the Walton Cemetery, Walton, Ks.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday 1pm til 9pm where the family will receive friends after 6pm.
