Janice Marie Brown, died December 30, 2008 in Newton.
She was born on September 21, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Francis (Sams) and Edward Thomas Mervia.
Janice enjoyed playing bingo, shopping and spending time with her friends. Her greatest love were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include 2 sons; Larry Brown, Newton, James Brown, Peabody , 3 daughters; Sherry Bown, Newton, Cheryl Williams, Haysville and Karen Lee, Halstead, 2 sisters; Ann Mervia, Wichita, and Joyce Matson, Odessa, CA.; 21 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 6th, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Newton.
A book signing will be held on Monday, January 5th, from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no family visitation.
The family will have a private committal.
Memorials may be made to the Newton Sheriff’s Department or the American Cancer Society in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, KS 67114.
