Geraldine Joan (Jerry) Collier passed away peacefully on December 10th in Newton, Kansas. She was 94 years old.
Jerry is survived by her daughter Cathie Ashcraft of Granbury, Texas; her son Vincent and his wife Deborah (Hefley) Collier of Newton; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mollie Supernois; her son-in-law T.M. Ashcraft; and her loving husband of 53 years, Charles Collier.
Born in Newton, Jerry graduated from Newton High School. She and her husband began their business career by buying and flipping properties on Main Street. Their first purchase was 224 Main Street, which they renovated and leased to Safeway Co. The couple owned and operated a successful furniture store in downtown Newton for 17 years before selling the business and becoming independent manufacturers' representatives.
Jerry and Charles traveled throughout the Midwest for years, always working side by side. In 1980, they moved to a lakeside home in Shell Knob, Missouri, on Table Rock Lake. Their home became a cherished gathering place for family and friends until Jerry returned to Newton in 2004.
A graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
