Jerry D. Hiebert, 73, died Thursday (December 14, 2017) at the Wesley Woodlawn Hospital in Wichita, Ks.
He was born on May 6, 1944 in Newton, Ks., the son of Leonard and Bertha S. Janzen Hiebert. Jerry was raised in the Walton area, graduating from Walton High School.
Jerry was united in marriage to Carol Joan Siemens on January 19, 1964 in Walton. They lived in Newton until recently moving to North Newton.
Jerry had worked at Prestressed Concrete in Newton for 43 years. For over 35 years he and Carol had worked at the Mennonite Church U.S.A.
Through the years he had enjoyed doing woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren as well as being a longtime member of First Mennonite Church.
Survivors include his wife Carol of the home; sons Monte Hiebert and wife Christa of Newton, Darrin Hiebert and wife Karen of Hesston; daughter Dynette Headgepath and husband Terry of Clearwater, Ks.; brother LaVern Hiebert of Hesston; and his 10 grandchildren Aryn Hiebert, Zach Hill, Terin Hiebert, Braden Hill, Bentley Hiebert, Payton Hiebert, Conner Hiebert, Nevaeh Hiebert, Gracen Hiebert and Jackson Hiebert.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; brother Leland; and daughter-in-law Shelly Mason Hiebert.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday (December 20, 2017) at the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, followed by Memorial services at 11:00 A.M. at the First Mennonite Church in Newton.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M., where the family will greet friends between 7:00 and 9:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with First Mennonite Church, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
