Jerry Vajnar, died on June 18, 2008 at the Newton Medical Center in Newton, Kansas.
He was born the son of Antone and Frantiska (Codle) on October 25, 1915 in Tampa, Kansas. .
Jerry married Mildred Holub on October 14, 1941 in Pilsen, Kansas. She died on February 22, 2007.
Together they farmed for many years, just south of Tampa, Kansas.
Jerry also worked for the Hesston Corporation until his retirement in 1980.
He enjoyed a good game of golf, shooting pool and polka dancing in his previous years.
Jerry and Mildred enjoyed traveling together and visited Europe, Hawaii and Canada together.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Newton.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his wife, 5 sisters and 4 brothers.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Jane (Vajnar) Combs and husband Pete, Newton, Vickie (Vajnar) Kraus and husband Don, Marion; sons, Jerome and wife Cindy, Austin, TX and Lynn and wife Connie of Newton; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M.
Rosary will be at 9:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, June 21, 2008.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, following the rosary, with burial to follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Father Kapaun Foundation or the Newton Senior Center.
