Jesse Arellano

Our beloved Jesse Arellano, 86, died Monday (December 27, 2021) in Newton, surrounded by his family.

He was born on October 5, 1935 in Newton, Kansas to his parents Juan and Georgia Corona Arellano.

In 1955, Jesse met the love of his life, soon to be his future bride – Amelia Hernandez, at a basketball tournament. On December 22, 1957, the two married at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton, Kansas. Married for 62 years, they raised their family in Newton.

Jesse is survived by his seven children: Michael Arellano, Teresa (late husband Steve) Belgard, James (Stacy) Arellano, Debra (Carl) Burch, Richard (Lori) Arellano all of Newton, Steven (Angela) Arellano of Thomasville, Georgia, and Stephanie (Chris) Snyder of Newton.

He is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Rosella) Arellano of Newton, Vera Macias of Roseville, Calif., Eddie (Laurie) Arellano of Tonkawa, Okla. Rosa (John) Johnson of Yalaha, Fla., and Tom (Sharon) Arellano of Newton.

Jesse is preceded in death by his parents Juan and Georgia. Upon entering the pearly gates of Heaven, he will be greeted by his lovely wife Amelia (Hun), his son-in-law Steven Belgard, grandson Brian Scott Arellano and great grandson Evan Scott Lewis. Jesse is also preceded in death by his sisters Sara Cavillo and Judy Jaso; and brother-in-law Adolph Macias.

Jesse made working for the railroad a lifetime career. In 1997, he retired from A.T.&S.F. and Santa Fe Railroad with 44 years of service as a laborer and machine operator. He loved his railroad family and they have many great and wild stories of the Railroader’s Life. Those collection of stories will live on.

His family and friends were his everything and that was very important. He was an amazing dad, not only to his own children, but to extended family, ball players and numerous of neighborhood kids. He prioritized his family above everything else in his life.

Jesse spent his free time watching sports games live or on TV. He had the honor of coaching a fastpitch team called The Los Gallos, in which his four sons played on. Many Summer weekends you would find him at Guadalupe Ball Park in Newton, or traveling out of town to play ball. The family would sometimes travel with the team. It was a family affair.

He also enjoyed watching his favorite NFL Team, Pittsburg Steelers, Atlanta Braves, the 2021 World Series Champions, UCLA Basketball, and the UCONN Women’s basketball team.

As you can see, Jesse had a passion for many things, his work, is family, and sports but the thing he most wanted was to be the loving and caring Dad in the world. He touched our lives and many others in so many ways.

Nothing can replace a dad like you, God will be lucky to have you to, your legacy will continue to live on.

The casket will be open at the funeral home on Monday (January 3, 2022) between 1:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M.

The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will follow at 7:00 P.M., Monday (Jan. 3^rd) at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton. Private family inurnment will be held later at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
