Jody L. Altum, 59, died Sunday (August 14, 2016) in Wichita, Ks.
He was born on July 26, 1957 in Smith Center, Ks., the son of Donnie Eldon and Leota Earleen Reid Altum. The family moved to the Zimmerdale area in 1965. Jody attended Moundridge High School.
Shortly after high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After being discharged from the military in 1977 Jody traveled around the country, but Kansas was his primary home. Through the years he had been a truck driver although the most of his life he had been a machinist.
Survivors include son Jeromey Altum of Alamogordo, N.M.; daughters Joleene Altum of Morongo Valley, Calf., and Tonya VanDenBosch of Twentynine Palms, Calif.; brothers Edward, Wesley, and Thomas all of Newton, William of Zimmerdale, and Don of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister Donnitta Warren of Sedgwick, Ks.; and nine grandchildren.
Jody is preceded in death by his parents; brother Lewis Glen Altum; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday (August 20, 2016) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
No visitation will be held as cremation has been effected.
