John H. Bond, 87, Wichita, KS formerly of Newton passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital.
John was born April 29, 1921 in Stigler, OK the son of John Frances and Minnie (Davis) Bond. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving with special services. He operated the films for Fox Theater and Roxy Theater. John was a landfill operator for over 10 years for the City of Newton and was night security for Prestressed Concrete. He enjoyed working on his cars and was always busy doing something. John had attended the First Baptist Church and was a member of the People’s Church.
He married Betty Ann Humphrey on March 27, 1946 in Stigler, OK. She preceded him in death on November 7, 1986.
John is survived by his sons Stephen R. Bond, and Dustin D. Bond both of Wichita; daughters Sue Ann Bond of Wichita; Marsha L. Barber of Newton; Rhonda R. Smith of Newton and Carmella Lindsey of Wichita. Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Friday, November 21, 2008 at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Condolences may be left online at www.broadwaycolonialfh.com.
