Katherine M. Bowman, died on July 18, 2008 at the Kidron Bethel Retirement Village in North Newton, Kansas.
She was born on May 3, 1912, the daughter of Ralph and Margaret Marie (Jessen) Krueger in Whitewater, Kansas.
On April 1, 1931, she married Virgil Bowman in Dodge City, Kansas. He died on March 14, 1957.
Following her marriage, Katherine spent the majority of her time in Newton. For a period of time she was employed by Emporia State University as a resident director in one of the women’s dormitories.
Katherine held a membership with the First Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge, all of Newton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son Jim.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Shirley Bowman, Houston, TX; 3 grandchildren, Jeffrey and wife LaVonna, Jay and wife LuAnn Bowman, and Susan Schaefer and husband James; 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Thursday, July 24, 2008 from 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, and also on Friday, July 25, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.
Funeral Services will begin at 2:30 P.M. on Friday, July 25, 2008 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Presiding will be Chaplain Amanda Rempel.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, Kansas.
