Laura E. Foth

Laura Elma Foth, of Newton, finally had her wish come true Saturday night (Oct. 2, 2010) when she left the Kansas Christian Home to be with Jesus in Heaven.

Laura was born on January 24, 1916 in Goessel, Ks., the oldest of six children to John and Bertha (Becker) Peters. She was raised on a farm near Peabody and attended high school in Walton.

On November 28, 1937, she married Ervin Foth at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel. They had farmed in the Hillsboro area, moving to Walton in 1949 and to Newton in 1983.

Laura had been a member of the Walton Mennonite Church where she was active in the Ladies Missionary Society and enjoyed quilting. Since moving to Newton she was a member of the Grace Community Church.

Laura is survived by two sons, Kenneth Foth and his wife Maxine of Osage City, Ks., and Edward Foth and his wife Mila of Newton; three daughters Delores Stika of Marion, Ks., Lois Prewit and her husband Charles of El Dorado, Ks., and Margie Heidel and her husband Robert of Newton; grandchildren Eugene Foth, Sharon Bundy, Kevin Foth and wife Amy, Jeff Heidel, Karen Baker and husband Carl, Jerry Stika and wife Kay, Dwayne Stika and wife Liz, Kristi Rimbey and husband Kevin and Heather Foth; 17 great grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren.

Laura is preceded in death by her parents; husband on January 11, 2000;one son Marvin; one daughter Wanda; three brothers Melvin, Victor and Elmer Peters; two sisters Ruth Feilder, Luella Dyck; three grandchildren Diane K. Heidel, Dennis Ray Stika, and Tom Foth; and son-in-law Valarion Stika

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday (Oct. 7, 2010) at the Grace Community Church. Interment will be in the Walton Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church on Thursday 10:00 til service time.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 1pm til 5pm.
