LaVera Baker, 82, of Newton, died on Wednesday (September 29, 2010) at the Kansas Christian Home in Newton.
She was born on October 5, 1927 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of John and Lydia Asendorf. LaVera attended St. John’s College in Winfield, Kansas, graduating with an Associates Degree in Arts in 1947.
God blessed LaVera’s life with many special people as she served God in her vocations at home, church, the community, and serving as the Parish Secretary at Zion Lutheran Church for 25 years.
LaVera is survived by her three children; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a brother.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held on Saturday (October 2, 2010) at the Zion Lutheran Church. Interment was in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory near Newton.
