Lois Irene Powell , 88, of Newton , died Thursday (Dec. 17, 2009) at the Newton Medical Center .
She was born on June 15, 1921 in Newton , Ks., the daughter of Delmar and Ethel Morris Brown . She was a lifelong resident of Newton . Lois married Victor Eugene Powell on January 16, 1948 in Newton .
Lois had been a member of the Second Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband Victor of the home in Newton ; two daughters Victoria Padgett and her husband James of Memphis, Tenn., and Patricia Wiley-Boyd of Kansas City , Mo ; one sister Wanda Jackson of Atlanta , Ga. ; and four grandchildren.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents and one sister Emogene Moore .
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday (Dec. 23, 2009) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton . Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery , Newton .
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday 9am til 8pm, where the family will receive friends between 6:30 and 7:30pm.
