Loren V. Johnson, 87, died Saturday (November 3, 2018) at the Newton Medical Center.
He was born on September 20, 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska. Loren was raised in the Omaha and Columbus, Nebraska areas. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He married JoAnn Wozny on September 20, 1952 in Columbus. She died in 2001.
Loren worked for Dale Electronics and Behlen Manufacturing in Columbus. Several years later he went to work for Rockwell International as a quality assurance inspector. After retiring from Rockwell, Loren continued to do quality inspections across the country as an “independent contractor.”
He moved from Columbus to Goessel 15 years ago. He attended the First Missionary Church in Newton. Loren enjoyed doing woodworking.
Survivors include his daughter Natise Vogt and her husband Richard of Newton and two granddaughters Sarah Vogt of Newton and Hannah Vogt of Wichita.
Loren is preceded in death by his parents, Chase and Burnette Leach Johnson; wife JoAnn; and sister Nola Fowler.
Services will be held at 6:00 P.M., Thursday (November 7, 2018) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton.
The casket will be open at the funeral home after 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, the family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 5:00 P.M.
A memorial has been established with Betheda Home of Goessel, Ks. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
