Louise Janzen

Louise A. Janzen, 95, was born August 24, 1926 in Walton, Ks., to Frank and Olga Hiebert. She passed away Tuesday (October 5, 2021) at the Newton Presbyterian Manor.

She graduated from Walton High School. Louise married Art on July 23, 1944. She was an active member of the First Mennonite Church most of her adult life. She worked for the City of Newton and retired after 25 years. Louise spent many, many years in the bleachers and auditoriums watching her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids participate in sports and school activities. Last year, she became a great-great grandmother.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur H.; and son Terry.

Survivors include her sons Darryl, Larry (Michelle) Janzen; daughter Cheryl Sauerwein; daughter-in-law Norma Janzen; grandkids Mike (Carolyn), Gary, Derek (Laura), Trevor, Eric (Jessica) Janzen, Nichole (Cole) Kruse, Chris (Jenny) Sauerwein and Kevin (Ginger) Sauerwein; great grandkids Nick (Ivy), Braden, Keri, Zac, Caleb, Caden, Carter, Taylor and Aubrey Janzen, Cody, Kenzie, Leah and Nellie Sauerwein; great-great granddaughter Kira Jazen; and a future great granddaughter due in March, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday (October 11, 2021) at the First Mennonite Church in Newton. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

The casket will be open on Sunday (Oct. 10th) at the funeral home between 1:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M., where the family will receive friends between 3:00 and 5:00.

The family request that those attending wear a mask to both the visitation and funeral service.

A memorial has been established with the Mennonite Central Committee and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
