Lowell L. Biesterfeld

Lowell L. “Biss” Biesterfeld, 86, of Newton, died Sunday (Dec. 4, 2011) at the Robert J. Dole Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born on November 7, 1925 in Newton, the son of George A. and Katherine Hill Biesterfeld. Lowell attended Newton schools. He joined the Merchant Marines and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Lowell enjoyed watching sports and was an avid K.U. basketball fan.
Survivors include his sister, Bernadine Whitmire of Newton.
Lowell is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Vernon E. and Orren; and sister Georgina Neuhauser.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, 1pm til 8pm.
Private family graveside services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
A memorial has been established with Caring Hands Humane Society, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
