Lu Gaede, 71, died on August 24, 2010 at the Newton Medical Center, Newton, Kansas.
He was born on July 27, 1939 to Mary Lu (Gibson) and Henry H. Gaede in Hillsboro, Kansas.
Lu married Sharron J. Johnston on April 17, 1972 in Newton, Kansas.
He had many hobbies during his lifetime, which included playing pitch, drinking coffee at several different coffee groups. He also liked to tinker with old cars and really enjoyed fixing children’s tricycles and passing them onto the neighbor children.
Lu worked for the USD School District # 373 for 26 ½ years, before entering retirement. He was well known and liked by many in the community and at school.
Survivors include 4 children, Chelle Gaede, Newton, Jerry Gaede and wife Gina, Newton, Daniel Gaede, Kansas City, MO, and Teresa Driver, Carrolton, TX; 2 brothers, Virgene Gaede, Newton and Raygene Gaede, Holcomb, KS; 4 sisters, Marlene Anduss, Marion, KS, Charlene Sullivan, Peabody, KS, Rolene Gaede, Racine, Wisconsin and Jolene West, Fort Scott, KS; 7 grandchildren, Kirby and Kelly Driver, Carrollton, TX, Noah Cleary, Newton, Thomas, Jacob, Alyssa and Zachary Gaede, Newton.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Sharron, sister, Darlene, Peterson and brother Eugene Gaede.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M.
Funeral Services will be at the funeral home on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 2:00 P.M.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the NHS Athletics Booster Club or the Make A Wish Foundation, both in care of the funeral home.
