Mary Marcheta Holdeman, 86, died on May 6, 2011 at the Newton Presbyterian Manor. She was born on August 11, 1924, in Newton, KS to Helen (Zarnowski) and Gus Walters.
Marcheta was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
She worked as a legal secretary for over 25 years with Nye and Nye law firm, and also worked over 30 years as a medical secretary and transcriptionist at the Bethel Clinic, Doctors’ Park and the Newton Surgery Centre. Marcheta volunteered her time with the Women’s Center and the Newton Medical Center. The last few years she also worked as a greeter for visitations with Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
Preceding her in death were her parents, 5 brothers, Bernard, Cecil, Roy, Floyd and Charles; 3 sisters, Gertrude, Irene and Evelyn.
Survivors include, 2 daughters, Mary Pat Anderson, Fayettville, AR, Kathee (John) Vaught, El Dorado, KS; 5 grandsons, Mitchel Anderson, Travis Anderson, Garrett (Ashley) Crider, Hudson Vaught and Sander Vaught; 2 great-grandchildren, Peyton Anderson and Bently Crider.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9th, 2011 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, from 1:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with the family greeting from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at the funeral home at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, May 10th, 10:00 A.M., 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Reverend Father Mainzer will be the celebrant.
There will be a private family inurnment at a later date.
