Maria A. Lemus, 92, of Newton, died Friday (May 26, 2017) at her home in Newton.
She was born on February 13, 1925 in Chalchuapa, Santa Ana, El Salvador. The daughter of Rafael Sandoval and Angela Lemus.
Maria moved to Newton in the early 80's and became a U.S. Citizen in 2014.
Survivors include her son Oscar Avila and his wife Maria Garcia of Newton; daughters Ana Morrow of Lenexa, Ks. and Mirian Martinez of El Salvador; 11 grandchildren, 17great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, son Roberto A. Sandoval, daughter Delmira DeBow, an infant son and an infant daughter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday (May 30, 2017) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
The casket will be open on Tuesday prior to the service beginning at 9:00 A.M.
