Martha Mae Turner , 87, died on Tuesday (Feb. 17, 2009) at the Salem Nursing Home in Hillsboro , KS.
She was born on January 31, 1922 in Monrovie , Kansas , the daughter of James and Carrie (Lamberson) Donovan . She married Merle W. Turner on February 12, 1955 in Wichita , Kansas.
Martha had been a self-employed technician of aircraft instruments for many years.
She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church .
Martha always enjoyed helping
others as well as crocheting, gardening, sewing and many other things on her own.
Survivors include three daughters Carolyn Hamm and her late husband Delbert of Newton, Kay Carr and her late husband, Billy Castleberry, of Newton ,Terrie Scudder and husband Harold of Waller , TX. ; seven grandchildren,Christina Stewart and husband Mike, David Peaney and wife Kristine , Carrie Casper and husband Brian, Russell Carr and wife Teresa, Roger Carr, Daniel Scudder and wife Megan, Brian Scudder and wife Pat; many great and great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Merle.
Friends may sign the book on Thursday, February 19th , and Friday, February 20th at the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. to 5 P.M.
A Memorial Service will be held at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, on Monday, February, 23rd, at 2:00 P.M.
Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Sedgwick, Kansas.
A memorial fund has been established with Salem Nursing Center ~ Dietary Department in Hillsboro or Caring Hands Humane Society in Newton , contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 East Broadway, Newton , Ks. 67114.
