Mary A. Llamas

Mary A. Llamas, “Tootsie”, 74, died January 16, 2011 at Via Christi, St.Francis in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born on November 21, 1936, in Newton, the daughter of Aurora Sauceda.

On October 16, 1954, she married Captain Jose Llamas in Newton, Kansas. He precedes her in death.

Mary attended St. Francis School of Nursing in Wichita, Kansas, earning her Registered Nursing degree. She worked for many years as an RN at St. Francis, before she retired.

Mary enjoyed writing poetry, jazz music, gardening, and fishing and was a voracious reader.

Preceding her in death was a brother, Nick Sauceda.

Survivors include 2 sons, Stephen Llamas (Nicky), Wichita, Richard Llamas, Wichita; 2 daughters, Patricia Brock (Larry), Linwood, KS, and Elizabeth Nicholson, Wichita,KS; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, January 20th at 6:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Newton.

Funeral Mass will be on Friday, January 21st, at 10:00 A.M., at the church, with Father Juan Garza.

Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Newton, KS
