Mary Elizabeth Unruh was born on May 12, 1919 in Rural Durham, Kansas, the daughter of Justina (Pankratz) and Peter H. Frantz. She died on March 9, 2008 at the Bethesda Home in Goessel, Kansas.
She married Noah D. Unruh on February 27, 1938 in Rural Durham, Kansas. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1990.
Mary and Noah pastored Mennonite churches in Minnesota, Montana and Oklahoma along with Congregational churches in Sedgwick, Lincoln and Ford, Kansas. Since 1961 she had assisted Noah in his real estate business until his death. She was a faithful wife, devoted mother and grandmother and a woman of prayer.
Survivors include her two daughters, Naomi R. Unruh, Newton; Margaret M. Davis and husband Don, Overland Park, KS; one sister, Josephine (Frantz) Holdeman Eslinger and husband Everett, Canton, KS; two sister-in-laws, Lucille Frantz, CA; Edith Unruh, Newton; granddaughter, Linda M. Davis,Overland Park, KS; two great-grandchildren, Katelin and James Sutler, Overland Park, KS; one great great grandson, Vance Davis, Overland Park, KS and many relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, spouse, a sister, Elizabeth (Frantz) Unruh and brothers, Abe, Eldo and Eddie Frantz along with 2 brothers that died in infancy.
Visitation will be at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton, Kansas on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. and also from 1:00 - 2:00 with family at the church on Thursday. You may also sign the guestbook online at www.broadwaycolonialfh.com
Services will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at 2:00 P.M., at Golden Plains Free Methodist Church, rural Newton, Kansas. The Reverend Charles Kaufmann will be presiding.
Memorials may be made to the Golden Plains Free Methodist Church or Bethesda Home of Goessel and sent to the funeral home at 120 E Broadway, Newton, Kansas.
