Mary Ann Moore, 83, of Newton, died Sunday (October 13, 2013) at the Newton Medical Center.
She was born on May 25, 1930 near Yates Center, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest and Blanche Reddick Armstrong; Mary graduated from Mulvane High School.
Mary moved to the Walton area in 1949 and to Newton in 1965. She had been a cook and baker for many years, working in Newton at The Old Mill and in Wichita at the Wichita Country Club, Furrs Cafeteria and the cafeteria at St. Francis Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons Chuck Moore of Bainbridge Island, Wa., and Edward Moore of Wichita; daughter Kathy Moran of Newton; grandson Jade BanVee of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; brothers Richard Armstrong of Canada, Tom and Larry Armstrong of the Joplin, Mo., area; sisters Jean Strait, Lois Potts, Sue Sherrill, Doris Grounds, Elaine Schulze of the Joplin area, and Virginia Armstrong of California; and three great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; sister Norman Ruth Maser; and grandson Steve Moran.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday (October 19, 2013) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
There will be no visitation as cremation has been effected.
A memorial has been established with the Friendship Fund of Asbury Park, contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
