Michael Dean Hite, of Raleigh, N.C., peacefully passed away on June 29, 2011, after a courageous fight with colon cancer.
He was born on Dec. 16, 1949, in Nevada, Mo. The family moved to Newton, Kansas where he graduated from high school in 1967.
Michael served seven and half years in the U.S. Air Force, followed by 23 years at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita.
Always interested in advancing himself, Michael attended college while in his 50's, graduating with an Associates Degree in Nursing Prep, as well as certification in Surgical Technology.
Michael is survived by his wife Peggy of Raleigh; mother Dorothy Hite of Newton; sister Vicky Zinn of Goessel; children Harland Hite of Citrus Heights, Calif., James Hawkins and Lindsay Hawkins of Wichita; grandchildren Harlan Hite, Jr., Heather Hite and Amanda Hite all of Citrus Heights, Konner Donham, Cheyanne Brock and Melissa Hawkins all of Wichita.
He is preceded in death by his father Wilbur Hite, and an infant son Michael Hite, Jr.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Saturday (July 23, 2011) at the Restlawn Gardens of Memory in Newton, ks.
There will be no visitation or viewing as cremation has been effected.
Arrangements are by Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
