Michael R. Jay, 55, of Newton, died Saturday (June 5, 2010) at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at the Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Ks.
He was born on October 26, 1955 in Newton, the son of Raymond M. and Dixie A. Liby Jay. A lifelong resident of Newton, Mike graduated from Newton High School in 1973.
In March, 1974, Mike went to work at the Water Treatment Plant in Newton, retiring on August 7, 2009. Mike was an avid fisherman and ejoyed using his metal detector.
Survivors include his two sons Eric R. Jay and his wife Josie of Lawrence, Ks. and Sean M. Jay of Boise, Idaho; his mother Dixie Jay of Newton; and two granddaughters Harper Louise Jay and Wren Frances Jay both of Lawrence.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday (June 19, 2010) at the Broadway Colonial Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Newton.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, contributions may be sent to the funeral home.
